History

The history of Wetlands International Japan began with the establishment of the Japan office for the International Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Bureau (IWRB) in 1977. The office was renamed Wetlands International Japan (WIJ) following the merger of IWRB and other international wetlands-related organisations in 1994. 10 years later, WIJ was officially registered as NPO.
